Since 1935, the Savannah Tour of Homes & Gardens has been opening doors for Savannahians and visitors alike. The Tour was founded 83 years ago by the Women’s Auxiliary of Christ Church as a direct response to the charitable needs in Savannah resulting from the Great Depression. It has evolved into a four-day event that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthwhile organizations locally and globally. It provides support for local preservation efforts, homeless shelters, job training programs and other organizations working to make Savannah and the rest of the world a better place.
This year, over $100,000 was raised and distributed to several worthwhile organizations throughout Savannah. The Tour continues to support local preservation and beautification efforts through Historic Savannah Foundation and the Ardsley Park Chatham Crescent Garden Club. Other grant recipients include: Hope Academy, Heads Up Guidance Services, The Children’s School at St. John’s, Urban Hope, the Whitefield Foundation and Young Life. Thank you to all of our homeowners, guests, volunteers and sponsors that continue to support our efforts to make Savannah the best city in the world!
